On May 12, 2023, at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center, the “Barristers” Law Firm held its second roundtable dedicated to the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani dialogue.
Konstantin Globa, a partner at “Barristers,” spoke at the event on behalf of the firm. Also participating in the roundtable were Oleksandr Merezhko, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation; Farhad Guliyev, an officer with the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Territorial Defense Forces Command; Said Ismagilov, a Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemember and paramedic; and other distinguished participants from both the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani sides.
The following topics were discussed
: - interparliamentary and political dialogue between Ukraine and Azerbaijan;
- the development of cooperation in the fields of business and trade between the two countries, including the decisions businesses are making to continue operations under martial law and with blocked logistics routes;
- legal assistance for foreigners and international businesses in Ukraine during the war, as well as cooperation between Ukrainian and Azerbaijani lawyers;
- the Azerbaijani community as an integral part of a tolerant, multicultural Ukrainian society, and the process of integrating Azerbaijanis into Ukrainian society;
- common geopolitical challenges facing Ukraine and Azerbaijan;
- the role of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine’s civic and political life and in defending Ukraine against Russian aggression;
- cooperation between Ukrainian and Azerbaijani journalists, particularly its development during the war;
- the Azerbaijani public’s perception of Russian aggression.
