The continuing education seminar for attorneys focused on the exercise and protection of human rights under martial law.
The seminar was organized by the Committee on Constitutional Justice and Human Rights of the Odesa Regional Bar Association.
Iryna Hlovyuk, attorney, Doctor of Law, associate professor, scientific advisor at BARRISTERS Law Firm, and member of the Scientific Advisory Council at the Supreme Court, and Mykola Pashkovsky, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Research Advisor at BARRISTERS Law Firm, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Council at the Supreme Court, explained to the participants the procedural aspects of ensuring the right to life under martial law, the prohibition of torture and other cruel treatment under a state of emergency, differences from peacetime, what the defense should do under the special regime of pretrial investigation during martial law, as well as criminal proceedings in absentia.
