Iryna Hlovyuk, attorney, research advisor at Barristers Law Firm, Doctor of Law, and associate professor, is a member of the Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure of the National Bar Association of Ukraine and participated in the preparation of a legal analysis of the draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine (Regarding the Alignment of Procedural Rules with Ukraine’s International Obligations in the Field of Criminal Justice)” (Reg. No. 2304 dated October 23, 2019).

Based on the results of this analysis, the UNAU submitted its proposals and comments on the aforementioned draft law to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement.

These comments and proposals primarily concern the need to refine certain formulations used in the draft law, in particular the proposed definition of a procedural action.

They also propose, among other things, to include in the list of persons who may enter into an agreement with a defense attorney other individuals whose rights or legitimate interests are restricted during a pretrial investigation, as well as to expand the list of items and documents to which access is prohibited, as well as information stored on electronic media.
