Elvira Lazarenko, an attorney and partner at Barristers, LLC, successfully represented a judge before the High Council of Justice

Back in the fall of 2018, the Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice opened disciplinary proceedings against a judge of the Kyiv City District Court, and in January 2019, the Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice concluded that the judge’s actions contained elements of a disciplinary offense and decided to hold the judge disciplinarily liable by imposing a disciplinary sanction.
Following an appeal to the High Council of Justice, the decision was upheld.

Elvira Lazarenko, seeking to protect the judge’s rights and interests, filed a complaint with the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court challenging the High Council of Justice’s decision. The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court took the attorney’s arguments into account and overturned the High Council of Justice’s decision.

Following the Grand Chamber’s overturning of the High Council of Justice’s decision, the disciplinary case was referred back to the High Council of Justice for reconsideration.

On July 13, 2021, the High Council of Justice overturned the previous decision of the Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice to hold the judge disciplinarily liable.
