The defense team, consisting of Denis Ponomarenko, a partner at Barristers LLP, and Kateryna Varnaliy, an attorney at Barristers LLP, achieved a successful outcome during the hearing on the prosecutor’s motion to impose the most severe pretrial measure in the form of pretrial detention.

On July 6, 2026, during the court hearing on this motion, the defense presented arguments demonstrating that there were no grounds for imposing the most severe preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention.

Following the consideration of this motion, the Khadzhibey District Court of Odessa denied the prosecutor’s motion and imposed a less severe pretrial measure on our client—nighttime house arrest, prohibiting him from leaving his place of residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the following day.

This criminal case is yet another testament to the coordinated work of the Barristers team, which has once again demonstrated that persistence, professionalism, and a clear defense strategy can achieve a positive outcome for the client even in the most complex criminal proceedings.
