Dr. Eva Hofmanska, an internationally recognized human rights advocate and founder of the Project Sunflowers Foundation, has been appointed chair of the organizing committee for a new All-Ukrainian student competition for the best draft security treaty for Ukraine.
This was announced by Oleksiy Shevchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian National Bar Association and partner at Barristers Law Firm.
The goal of the competition is to engage young people in developing modern legal approaches to international security guarantees and the drafting of a peace treaty that will shape Ukraine’s future.
Dr. Gofmanska is a renowned international expert on human rights and legal mechanisms for protecting victims of war, as well as a founder of initiatives to document war crimes and establish effective mechanisms to assist victims.
Her participation as chair of the competition lends the project significant international and professional standing, opening up new opportunities for young lawyers in Ukraine.
About the “New Ukraine: Security Treaty” Competition
This is a nationwide legal competition for law students to produce the best legal paper—a draft international legal treaty for Ukraine in the post-war era. Organizers: Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, the National Bar Association of Ukraine, and Barristers Law Firm.
Goal: To formulate a vision of modern legal guarantees for Ukraine’s security under international law from the perspective of young lawyers
Participants: students majoring in law and related fields from across Ukraine
Prize fund: 500,000 UAH, to be distributed among the winners:
1st place — 200,000 UAH
2nd place — 150,000 UAH
3rd place — 100,000 UAH
Special Founder’s Award — 50,000 UAH
Contest participants will propose the structure, content, and legal mechanisms of a security treaty designed to ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international guarantees in the postwar period.
