Today, the Zhytomyr Court of Appeals upheld the Zvyagel City and District Court of Zhytomyr Oblast’s acquittal of Barristers’ client on the criminal charges brought against him.

As a reminder, Barristers’ client was charged with committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code—misappropriation of another person’s property, committed by a group of individuals acting in concert.

The trial in the court of first instance lasted more than two years.

On the eve of the court proceedings, the prosecutor amended the charges to Part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

After Barristers’ client was acquitted by the Zviahel City and District Court of Zhytomyr Oblast in 2023, the prosecutor’s office appealed this decision to the appellate court.

Thanks to the persistent efforts of the attorneys, the Zviahel City and District Court of Zhytomyr Oblast’s findings regarding the client’s innocence were upheld by the appellate court.

The case was handled by a team consisting of Barristers partner Elvira Lazarenko and attorneys Mykhailo Yakovchuk and Ivanna Chernyi.
