Yesterday, the Obolon District Prosecutor’s Office of the City of Kyiv opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—official negligence resulting in the death of a person. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years.
Our client, Natalia Smashna, the wife of the deceased patient, has been recognized as a victim in this criminal case.
As a reminder, a press conference was held at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency regarding the tragedy on January 5—the death of a patient after a Russian drone struck the inpatient building of the “Medicom” clinic.
The team at Barristers Law Firm will represent the victim’s interests in this case and provide legal support to ensure a proper legal assessment of the events.
Throughout the week, we have been contacted by citizens reporting other egregious violations by the Medikom Clinic, which have already led to irreparable tragedies. We are thoroughly reviewing these reports and do not rule out the possibility of new, similar cases emerging.
