AAU Summer Forum on Criminal Law and Procedure: "Golden Duke"

On July 6, 2018, the AAU Summer Forum on Criminal Law and Procedure, “Golden Duke,” will take place in Odessa.

This forum will serve as a platform for discussing amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure and their practical application!

What will you get?

- Practical case studies and real-world advice on applying the amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure to the work of attorneys;

- Review and discussion of current topics in criminal law and procedure;

- an exchange of experiences among criminal law specialists;

- Analysis of lawyers’ mistakes and judges’ advice on how to address them.

The forum will consist of four sessions, during which you will hear presentations on the following topics:

1. An overview of the latest amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure.

2. Recording of court proceedings—expectations versus reality.

3. Legislative outlook.

4. Appealing the “unappealable.” Recent trends regarding appeals of rulings not covered by Article 309 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

5. Common mistakes made by attorneys. Advice from judges.

6. Best practices for representing clients before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

7. Developing a defense strategy in criminal proceedings in conjunction with other types of legal proceedings.

Speakers include: renowned attorneys and lawyers, experienced judges, representatives of government agencies, academics, and others.
