The Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, in cooperation with the National Bar Association of Ukraine, announces the all-Ukrainian law student competition “New Ukraine Through the Eyes of Young Lawyers” for the best student legal paper on drafting an international legal treaty for Ukraine following the end of the war. This was announced during the competition’s presentation. The prize fund totals 500,000 UAH, which will be distributed among the three winners.

Oleksiy Shevchuk, partner and spokesperson for Barristers Law Firm and head of the Legal Information Center at the Kyiv National Economic University (KNEU), emphasized that the competition aims to engage young lawyers in shaping the future legal order. He stressed that students from any university can participate and that it is precisely young lawyers who should formulate a vision of the state’s legal guarantees after victory.

“In recent years, the country has been in a state of turmoil. We talk a lot about peace and victory, but no one has asked young people if they are ready for a new country. That is precisely why we announced this competition—so that young lawyers themselves can propose what Ukraine’s security treaty should look like,” the speaker noted.

Oleksiy Shevchuk also announced the prize structure: 200,000 UAH for first place, 150,000 UAH for second, 100,000 UAH for third, and an additional 50,000 UAH as a special prize from the contest’s founder.

Dmytro Luk’yanenko, Doctor of Economics, professor, and rector of the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, expressed confidence that the competition could serve as a platform for truly innovative ideas: “Students will determine not only the content of the security treaty but also the key issues that may require changes in international law. We expect unconventional solutions in areas where the global elite has yet to find a way forward.”

Lyudmyla Kozhura, Doctor of Law, professor, and director of the Law Institute at the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, emphasized that the competition goes beyond a typical contest: “We are launching a platform for young people who are not only studying law but are already ready to shape its future.”
