Oleksiy Shevchuk, an attorney and partner at Barristers LLP, announced that the first official meeting of the commission for filling administrative positions at the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office had taken place.

According to him, all six members of the commission participated in the meeting. Following a vote, Laura Stefan was elected chair of the commission, and Serhiy Shmalenya was elected deputy chair, according to “Law and Business.”
The commission also approved a draft set of regulations for official publication and public discussion. The draft regulations have already been submitted for public comment, which will last 14 days.
Oleksiy Shevchuk urged all interested parties to review the document on the Office of the Prosecutor General’s website and submit their suggestions.

Separately, the commission approved an appeal to international partners for technical support. According to O. Shevchuk, he fully supports this step, as the competition must be conducted continuously, openly, and transparently.
During the meeting, the issue of the commission’s secretariat’s operations was also brought up for discussion. O. Shevchuk expressed the view that the secretariat should be an integral part of the commission, include representatives of the international component and the Office of the Prosecutor General, conduct official communications on behalf of the commission, particularly regarding the collection of information on candidates, and have access to official documentation concerning the candidates.

According to O. Shevchuk, it is precisely this model for the secretariat’s operation—based on current legislation and prior practical experience—that will ensure the commission’s work is open, transparent, and lawful.
The commission’s next meeting is scheduled for late July.
