A partner at Barristers, LLC commented on the cancellation of the Supreme Court hearing that was scheduled for February 21, 2018, in the case of B.S. Rosenblatt.
Today, February 21, 2018, the Supreme Court scheduled a hearing on my cassation appeal, filed on behalf of People’s Deputy of Ukraine B.S. Rosenblat, challenging the ruling of the Kyiv City Court of Appeals, which refused to open appellate proceedings regarding the ruling of the investigating judge of the Solomyanskyi District Court of Kyiv on the imposition of a preventive measure on B.S. Rosenblatt!
The prosecutor, who had been duly notified of the time and place of the cassation appeal hearing, failed to appear and did not provide any explanation for his absence! The case was adjourned!
In my view, this is nothing less than a display of disrespect, first and foremost toward the Court... It is impossible to accept this as normal, since the Supreme Court is the highest authority in Ukraine’s judicial system...
However, what can one say—such is the state of affairs at the SAP!...
