The AAU All-Ukrainian Rapid Chess Tournament for Attorneys, “Attorney’s Tour”!

On June 9–10, 2018, Odessa will host the All-Ukrainian AAU Rapid Chess Tournament for Attorneys, “Advocate’s Tour,” organized by the Odessa Regional Branch of the AAU in conjunction with the Odessa Regional Bar Association.

The event’s general partners are Barristers Law Firm and EVRIS Law Firm, with active organizational support from attorney Vsevolod Petrovich Sokalyuk.

All chess enthusiasts who are registered in the Ukrainian Bar Association’s registry as of the date of the tournament and hold no higher than the first adult chess rank are invited to participate.

For members of the AAU: 300 UAH. For other participants: 500 UAH.

The estimated number of participants is up to 50 attorneys.

The competition will last two days (Saturday and Sunday).

On the first day, group tournaments and semifinals will be held.

On the second day, the final rounds and the awards ceremony for the winners and participants will take place. The games will be played using the Swiss system. Each participant is allotted 10 minutes per game (the duration of a game shall not exceed 20 minutes). The tournament will be officiated by international-category chess arbiters and a grandmaster. Renowned chess masters are expected to attend the tournament.

An entry fee of 500 UAH is required to participate in the tournament; this fee may be paid on behalf of the participant by the Bar Association of the respective region or by the participant individually.

Winners will receive valuable prizes and cash awards from the Ukrainian Bar Association, the Odesa Regional Bar Association, and the law firms sponsoring the tournament, while all participants will receive commemorative souvenirs.

Coffee breaks and opportunities for participants, fans, and guests to mingle are planned during the breaks between games.

For reference: Since 2015, under the patronage of the Odesa Regional Bar Council and with the support of the Association of Chess and Checkers Clubs of the Odesa Region and the “Four Horses” Chess Club (organizing committee: Attorneys Vsevolod Petrovich Sokalyuk (chair) and Denis Vasilyevich Ponomarenko (vice chair), three annual “Lawyers’ Tour” open chess tournaments dedicated to Ukrainian Lawyers’ Day have been successfully held.
