The twenty-third edition of Ukrainian Law Firms: A Handbook for Foreign Clients 2026 has been published—one of the leading guides to the Ukrainian legal market, now in its fourth edition published amid a full-scale war. The publication analyzes the development of the legal industry in Ukraine amid ongoing uncertainty and transformations in government regulation and the economy.

As the authors of the study note, the role of the legal profession today extends far beyond the application of legislation: it entails responsibility for shaping Ukraine’s future. Despite the challenges of 2025, the Ukrainian legal market has demonstrated its ability to adapt to new conditions, transform internal processes, develop expertise, and meet the needs of a new generation of clients.

The 2026 edition of Ukrainian Law Firms recognizes the Barristers team among the leaders in the practice areas of Criminal Law, White-Collar Crime, Anti-Corruption, and War and Military Crimes.

Specifically, in the CRIMINAL LAW / WHITE-COLLAR CRIME category, Barristers’ managing partner Oleksandr Tananakin was recognized among the LEADING INDIVIDUALS, and Barristers was recognized as one of the leading law firms in this practice area in Ukraine (Tier 1). In the OTHER NOTABLE PRACTITIONERS category, the survey also highlights Barristers’ partners Elvira Lazarenko, Denys Ponomarenko, Yuriy Radzievsky, Oleksandr Shadrin, and Oleksiy Shevchuk.

Barristers was also included in the list of the best Ukrainian law firms specializing in ANTI-CORRUPTION and WAR AND MILITARY CRIMES, which are among the firm’s key practice areas.

In the analytical section of the study, the authors describe Barristers as a law firm focused on criminal law. The team represents high-ranking officials, business owners, company executives, military personnel, and private clients in complex criminal proceedings.

The main areas of practice include cases involving economic and official criminal offenses, corruption, abuse of power, and embezzlement, particularly proceedings related to so-called white-collar crimes.

The team handles cases investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR), and other law enforcement agencies, and also represents clients in proceedings before the High Anti-Corruption Court.

Among the cases highlighted in the study are the defense of former high-ranking officials and company executives in high-profile corruption investigations, criminal proceedings concerning stabilization loans for banks and international defense contracts, as well as cases involving military personnel.

As part of its work, the team focuses on challenging the charges brought, defending seized assets, challenging pretrial measures, and ensuring that clients’ procedural rights are upheld at all stages of the pretrial investigation and court proceedings.

Among the Barristers partners handling the most high-profile public cases, researchers highlight: Oleksandr Tananakin, Elvira Lazarenko, Denys Ponomarenko, Yuriy Radzievsky, Andriy Yosypov, Oleksiy Shevchuk, and Oleksandr Shadrin.
