During the first session of the AAU “Golden Duke” Summer Forum, which took place on June 21 in sunny Odesa at the Kadorr Business Center, a discussion was held on the topic “Criminal Law: Development Trends and Current Practice.”

Serhiy Lysenko, attorney, Ph.D. in Law, and founder of the law firm GRACERS, spoke about recent legislative changes regarding criminal liability.

“Notification of Suspicion and Seizure of Property: Evaluation of Evidence and the Rationale Behind the Investigating Judge’s Decision”—Denis Ponomarenko, partner at Barristers Law Firm.

Oleksandr Lysak, Partner at EQUITY, discussed defense tactics and strategy in criminal proceedings.

Diana Yakovleva, partner at AS Legal Law Firm and head of the criminal law practice, addressed the challenges of determining and changing criminal charges during the pretrial investigation.

Yevgen Gilin, attorney and senior partner at Jovanik & Partners LLP, analyzed the practical aspects of classification, focusing on Supreme Court case law.

The session’s expert speakers were: Alla Makarovets, Ph.D. in Law, judge of the Cassation Criminal Court within the Supreme Court, and Nadiya Stefaniv, Ph.D. in Law, judge of the Cassation Criminal Court within the Supreme Court.
