April 22, 2025: The Darnytskyi District Court of Kyiv, in Case No. 753/22992/24 (Proceedings No. 2-o/753/155/25) granted the petition to establish a fact of legal significance—the hero’s feat has been legally recognized.
Acting on behalf of the daughters of the deceased volunteer, attorneys from BARRISTERS LLP filed a petition with the court to establish the fact that their father died as a result of his direct participation in efforts to defend Ukraine against Russia’s military aggression.
This is one of many cases where a civilian’s actual participation in combat operations can only be confirmed through court proceedings.
This decision is the first and most important step toward realizing the rights of the family of the fallen defender of Ukraine.
Kostyantyn, a true patriot and a colonel with combat experience serving in elite units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine, could not stand aside from the fight for his homeland.
Due to age restrictions, he was not mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but he volunteered for the “Brotherhood” battalion and carried out combat missions alongside units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
On May 14, 2024, in the city of Vovchansk, Kharkiv Oblast, Kostyantyn died heroically while covering the retreat of a Main Intelligence Directorate unit along with wounded soldiers.
He gave his life to save his comrades—young men who will continue the fight and honor his sacrifice with their victories.
This court ruling recognizes the heroism of a civilian volunteer who stood up to defend Ukraine not by order, but by the call of his heart.
