The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv issued a ruling ordering the State Bureau of Investigations to open a criminal case under Article 182 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—violation of privacy.
The case concerns the unlawful dissemination of photographs of Volodymyr Prokopiv, taken on May 17, 2025, while he was being served with a notice of suspicion. These images appeared in leading Ukrainian media outlets just a few hours after the procedural action took place.
The photos were taken by a police officer—Oleksandr Ryabchuk—who must now explain to SBI investigators how this official material became publicly available and was used as part of a media campaign against our client.
Yuriy Radzievsky, a partner at Barristers Law Firm, notes:
