Attorney, Yuriy Radzievsky, a partner at Barristers Law Firm, spoke on Kyiv24 TV about the progress of the pretrial investigation into the case involving the alleged embezzlement of 57 million hryvnias from the funds of the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Social and Veterans’ Policy.

According to the defense, the prosecution’s case contains serious gaps:

The suspects lacked any official authority that would have allowed them to misappropriate the funds. The nature of the alleged abuse of power is not clear from the charges themselves.

The alleged loss of 57 million hryvnias has not been confirmed by any expert analysis—only the calculations of a private auditor are available.

The composition of the so-called “criminal group” varies across different procedural documents—the defense cannot understand exactly what it is supposed to defend against.

The allegation of facilitating the conclusion of contracts at inflated prices is unsubstantiated and is mere hearsay.

The suspects were not required to verify the cost of social services. However, they did in fact conduct such a verification, as confirmed by the documents submitted to the court.

Legal logic is increasingly absent from the case, and the prosecution’s claims do not stand up to any scrutiny.
