On October 16, a court hearing was held in the case of Dmytro Ryumshyn. As expected, Judge Bilotserkivets extended the pretrial detention order for another two months—until December 12.
Despite numerous arguments from the defense, the bail amount was reduced only symbolically—from 10.99 million to 10 million hryvnias. The judge spent a long time reading out the suspect’s rights in the event of bail being posted, although the extent of the “reduction” itself appeared to be purely formal.
Prosecutor Yavdokimenko attempted to justify the “exceptional nature” of the case, appealing to phrases such as “taking into account the suspect’s character” and “the public interest.” At the same time, no specific legal arguments were presented.
The defense drew the court’s attention to key circumstances that had not been evaluated
: - the pretrial investigation is effectively complete;
- the defense submitted evidence refuting the prosecution’s version of events;
- the witnesses who testified confirmed that no crime had been committed;
- a separate criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the fabrication of evidence in this case.
However, none of these arguments influenced the judge’s position, as he once again demonstrated bias and a lack of due process.
Dmytro Ryumshyn’s defense team continues to insist on the illegality of the charges and consistently documents every instance of a violation of the right to a fair trial.
