The court denied a request to remand officials of a Dnipro City Council municipal enterprise into custody
On January 28, 2025, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv denied motions to remand into custody two officials of a municipal utility company under the Dnipro City Council who are suspected of violating Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Positions of the parties:
The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Eastern Region in the Field of Defense insisted on applying preventive measures in the form of pretrial detention, with the alternative of bail set at over 9 million UAH and 2 million UAH, respectively.
Court’s Decision
Following the hearing:
- for one of Barristers’ clients, bail in the amount of 900,000 UAH was set as an independent preventive measure;
- for the other, house arrest during nighttime hours was imposed.
The defense in the case was handled by Elvira Lazarenko, a partner at the “Barristers” Law Firm, and attorney Bohdan Zabara.
