Registration is now open for the annual "Lawyers' Rook 2018" chess tournament, dedicated to Ukrainian Lawyers' Day

ON THE HOLDING OF THE FOURTH ANNUAL OPEN RAPID CHESS TOURNAMENT “LAWYER’S ROOK – 2018”

AMONG LAWYERS OF THE ODESSA REGION ON THE OCCASION OF LAWYERS’ DAY

On December 15, 2018, the Fourth Annual Open Chess Tournament “Lawyers’ Rook – 2018,” dedicated to Ukrainian Lawyers’ Day, will take place.

The tournament is held under the patronage of the Odessa Regional Bar Association (Y.L. Bronz, A.E. Kostin) and with the support of the Association of Chess and Checkers Clubs of the Odessa Region.  The tournament’s organizing committee consists of the following attorneys: Vsevolod Petrovich Sokalyuk (chair), Denis Vasilyevich Ponomarenko (vice chair), and committee members: Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Kozlov (Committee on the Protection of Lawyers’ Professional Rights), Svitlana Aksentiivna Adabash (Committee on Culture, Tourism, and Sports).

General partners of the event: Barristers Law Firm, the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Odessa Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association, and the Odessa Regional Bar Council.

•                The tournament will be held in the auditorium of the Odessa Regional Bar Association: 14 Zhukovskogo St., Odessa.
•                Registration begins at 10:00 a.m.
•                The tournament begins at 11:00 a.m.
•                The event ends at 5:00 p.m.

Please note: The tournament is open to attorneys and legal assistants not only from Odesa but also from other regions of Ukraine.

Estimated number of participants: up to 20 people.

Games will be played using the Swiss system. Each participant will be allotted 10 minutes per game. The tournament will be officiated by an international chess arbiter or a grandmaster. Well-known Odessa chess masters are expected to attend the tournament.

As is tradition, winners will receive valuable prizes and cash awards from the Odesa Regional Bar Association and the tournament’s sponsors—renowned law firms—while all participants will receive commemorative souvenirs. Coffee breaks and opportunities for participants, fans, and tournament guests to mingle are planned during the breaks between games.

Media representatives, journalists, and chess enthusiasts are invited to attend.
