The death of a Ukrainian servicemember in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine has been confirmed

Last week, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv issued a ruling establishing the fact of the death of a Ukrainian servicemember in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. The case was handled by Marisa Skuba, an attorney with the “Barristers” Law Firm.
Back in September 2022, while carrying out a combat mission to defend his homeland in the Bakhmut District of Donetsk Oblast, the soldier was killed. He had been fighting in the Azov Regiment since 2014 and helped liberate the Hero City of Mariupol from Russian occupiers at the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
For a long time before filing a petition with the court to establish the fact of death, the attorney gathered evidence of the defender’s death: she interviewed witnesses to the incident—who were his comrades-in-arms—and contacted government authorities to obtain supporting information.
Currently, the body of this Ukrainian hero remains in the temporarily occupied territory. However, once the court ruling is issued, the defender’s family will be able to begin the process of receiving compensation and a state award.
