The interests of Ukrainian citizen Yulia Suslyak, who was detained in Georgia along with ten children, will be represented by attorneys from BARRISTERS, LLC—Alexander Tananakhin, Alexander Shadrin, and Inna Tetska.

Georgian police arrested a 37-year-old Ukrainian woman on suspicion of child trafficking after it was discovered that four of her ten children were born within a single year.

Nine of these children are Ukrainian citizens, and one is a U.S. citizen.

According to investigators, Yulia Suslyak arrived in Georgia from Russia on April 8 and planned to transport the 10 children to Abkhazia.

A statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs says that the woman has documents proving that all 10 children bear her last name and that she is their mother. The police suspected the woman of child trafficking when they discovered that four of the 10 children were born in 2017.

Currently, all of Yulia Suslyak’s children have been forcibly placed with foster families, and Yulia herself is being held in a pretrial detention center.

At the same time, the defense insists that all necessary evidence is available, demonstrating the obvious groundlessness of the aforementioned suspicion, and insists on the need for effective measures to be taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, diplomatic missions, and relevant international organizations.
