Oleksiy Shevchuk, an attorney, partner at Barristers Law Firm, and spokesperson for the National Bar Association of Ukraine, raised this concern while analyzing the shortcomings of parliamentary bill No. 12374-d.
According to him, the bill, which is supposed to regulate procedures regarding seized Russian assets, actually hinders the prosecutor’s office’s ability to effectively handle them. Of particular concern is the fact that the document was drafted not by experts in criminal procedure, but by lawmakers’ aides.
