May 22, 2025—another landmark victory in the courtroom.
In the criminal proceedings against our client, Junior Sergeant V.S. Belyak, who was charged under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional homicide), the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office acknowledged that the initial legal classification was erroneous.
After a lengthy trial and analysis of the evidence, the charge was amended to Article 118 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—exceeding the limits of necessary self-defense.
Our client was released from custody right in the courtroom.
This is an important step toward justice.
