On May 20, 2025, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court overturned the conviction under which Oleksandr Onyshchenko—a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the 7th convocation — had been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The case has been remanded for a new trial in the court of first instance.

This concerns the so-called “gas case”—one of the most high-profile cases in the history of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), involving the alleged misappropriation of over 740 million hryvnias from JSC “Ukrgazvydobuvannya” in 2014–2016 under joint activity agreements.
