On May 13, 2025, Yuriy Radzievsky, an attorney and partner at Barristers Law Firm, spoke to students at the Law Institute of the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University at the invitation of Director Lyudmyla Oleksandrivna Kozhura.
The topic of the meeting was the legal profession as a career, a calling, and a way of life.
Particular attention was paid to:
- The high professional standards required of a lawyer.
- The challenges and risks of daily legal practice.
- The opportunities that the status of a lawyer opens up—helping people, standing up against injustice, and earning public respect.
During the discussion, participants referenced popular films—*Force Majeure*, *Lincoln for a Lawyer*, and *The Devil’s Advocate*—and debunked the myths these films perpetuate about the profession.
Yuriy Radzievsky spoke candidly about the realities of the Ukrainian legal profession, emphasizing that being a lawyer means being one 24/7 and taking responsibility for every decision and action.
The students showed genuine interest, asked questions, and actively participated in the discussion. Yuriy Radzievsky expressed his hope that this meeting would inspire some of those present to choose a career as a lawyer.
We thank the administration of the KNEU Law Institute for the invitation and the opportunity to share our experience with future lawyers!
