The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence has recommended that parliament adopt, in the second reading, Bill No. 13347, which provides for the introduction of a new academic course titled “Fundamentals of National Resistance.” The bill proposes a significant transformation of the approach to military training for young people.

Oleksiy Shevchuk, spokesperson for the National Bar Association of Ukraine, partner, and speaker at Barristers Law Firm, commented on this initiative on his social media accounts.

According to him, the proposal involves integrating this course into the curricula of secondary and higher education institutions. The training is expected to include basic instruction on national resistance and the development of practical skills necessary for responding to crisis situations.

In addition, the bill provides for the creation of specialized training centers where citizens will be able to undergo additional training. These centers will be staffed by instructors with combat experience from service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Training may include exercises on special simulators, as well as practical shooting drills at official Ukrainian Armed Forces firing ranges under the supervision of instructors.

During the Committee meeting, the Minister of Defense also addressed the committee, outlining further steps to develop the national resistance system and enhance citizens’ readiness to face security challenges.

“We are moving toward becoming the nation best adapted to resistance,” notes Oleksiy Shevchuk.
