"When I see injustice, I never stay silent.
I didn’t stay silent when drunk orcs were harassing a woman at a Turkish hotel, and I stood up for her.
I didn’t stay silent when I saw force being used against an unarmed man. It seemed unjustified to me, so I intervened; a conflict ensued, followed by a fight. My reaction was impulsive; perhaps I should have acted differently, but I reacted the way I did.
Unfortunately, pro-Russian forces are using this incident to discredit Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I wholeheartedly support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and my homeland, and I do not want my name to be associated in any way with these provocations.
It’s hard for me right now because everyone has rushed to condemn me without knowing the truth; I was fired from my job, and all I wanted was for everything to be fair.
A bank account has been set up to support me; I want to thank you for that, but personally, I don’t need anything. Please donate the money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to children’s shelters.
All I need is for the leadership of the Football Federation to restore justice and help me with my job, because I don’t want to lose the chance to represent my country on the international stage.
If there are any violations in my actions, I will take responsibility; I just want this conflict to be resolved within the framework of the law and fairly. I know that the criminal case against me was initiated based on a statement by a TCC employee, which he did not want to write.
I would like to thank everyone who stood by me, supported me, and helped me through this difficult situation: my fellow soccer players, other athletes, concerned citizens, and politicians.
Sincerely, Danylo Kolesnik"
