The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv changed the pretrial measure for our client, Colonel Valery Khrbet, from pretrial detention to nighttime house arrest (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.). Valery Anatolyevich is finally free!

What is Valery Khrebt accused of?

• Abuse of authority by a military official (Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
• Alleged unlawful actions during two defense procurement contracts
• Losses to the state: 75.8 million UAH (according to the investigation)

On January 21, 2025, the court ordered his detention with the right to post bail set at 50 million UAH. The bail was later reduced to 15 million UAH.

Why does this case raise serious questions?

• The allegations have serious gaps and are not supported by sufficient evidence
• The risks cited by the investigation are unsubstantiated
• The amount of bail is disproportionate to the circumstances

Yesterday’s court decision is the first step. Ahead lies a lengthy process of fighting for a full acquittal, restoring Mr. Khrbet’s good name, and defending his violated rights.
